Cansin Yildiz

I am was a senior undergraduate student at the Department of Computer Engineering, Middle East Technical University. I am was a supervisory board member of the Computer Club where I worked at Game Project Group about 2 years. I was also a member of the management board of CClub last year and I was the head coordinator of National Programming Contest. I am still was preparing important visual aids of CClub where you can find some at here.

My research interests are Human Media Interaction, Computer Graphics and Artificial Intelligence. I am looking for an internationally renowned graduate program where I can work on one of those fields.

MuzikMekan - Senior Design Project

As a senior student, I am was working on my senior design project which is a mobile social network, suggesting new venues to members by tracking their location information coming from their mobile phones and members' musical taste. The main goal of this social network is to help people for deciding where to go for entertainment.

The system will provide users with capabilities like:

  • Learning the musical history of a venue and following what kind of music is being played in a venue right now using Last.fm.
  • Tracking what kind of people are inside a venue.
  • Getting suggestions for new places according to musical taste of the user which are learned from user's Last.fm account.
  • Synchronizing their profile with Facebook, Last.Fm and Twitter and enabling automatic status updates according to their locations.

The client side of this system is going to be implemented at Google Android. You can get more detailed information about the project at here. In particular, I suggest you to visit documents page where you can reach the project design and requirement reports.

Below you will find some screenshots from the very first prototype of the project.

Pirates of Ceng - Computer Graphics Project

This is a 3D ship simulation game where user can sail through oceans. This project is awarded 'Best Looking Project Prize' by Professor Veysi Isler. I prepared it in C++ using OpenGL via Eclipse IDE.

This project includes lots of implementation details. To briefly mention:

  • A level editor to prepare initial scenario settings including terrain and other objects.
  • Lots of camera modes.
  • A realistic skybox.
  • 3D terrain rendering from image files.
  • 3D object generation using basic OpenGL primitives and 3DS files.
  • Objct picking capabilities
  • Lots of detailed texturing work.
  • Blending effects.
  • Various illumination effects using directional and spot lights.

If you want to analyze the source code, you can download it here. Source code includes the makefile necessary to build. Please note that the source code is developed on a 32-bit Ubuntu 8.10 machine with g++ compiler and it was not tested on other OS. So, to be safe, .tar also includes an executable.

Below you can find a demo of the game. I hope you will like it.
