This talk explores the transition from project-oriented software development to sustainable product-oriented thinking from the perspectives of Product Management and Productization. It discusses the fundamental differences between software projects and software products, the strategic role of Product Management, and the challenges organizations face while transforming projects into scalable and sustainable products. The talk also examines concepts such as product lifecycle, Minimum Viable Product (MVP), stakeholder management, and continuous value creation through practical examples and industry-inspired metaphors. In addition, the talk addresses complexity management at scale through Software Product Line (SPL) approaches, modular architectures, and variability management. It also presents a real-life case study focusing on documentation challenges encountered during productization processes, together with potential AI-assisted solution approaches developed to address these challenges.
